About Us

The presence of the mighty Himalayas in the north and the perennial rivers flowing south are responsible for the profound, innate spirituality in the Bharatavarsha, thus opine our elders. The landscape of Jujjuru village of N.T.R. Krishna District in A.P shares much of the same characteristics, albeit in a smaller scale. The “Swayambhu Narasimha” cave in the north, different streams flowing southwards in the east and west directions and the holy Krishna in the south have lent a spiritual touch to the village, consecrating it. Many a holy men have sojourned at this place in their quest for The Truth.

In this age of kali, where the dharmas enjoined upon us by the scriptures are seldom practised, the Suraneni jamindars, in the middle of the eighteenth century have invited the pious descendents of the Madduri dynasty to purify this land. Thus the Madduris arrived at this village, bringing along with them a union of tradition and devotion.

It is said that yagnas form the essence of the Veda and the inner essence of Trimurthis. The Vedas themselves announced that yagna is a form of Lord Vishnu and Vishnu himself is a form of yagna (Yagnovai Vishnuhu Vishnurvai Yagnam). The Major requisites of a yagna are fire, mantra, ritual (Kriya) where they symbolize Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu respectively. Therefore a ritual such as “Agni Chayana” embodies the aspect of Trimurthis.

The then learned scholars of Madduri Dynasty, recognizing the importance of performance of such rituals in keeping up the peace and prosperity of Bharatavarsha, started them in their own backyards and lands granted to them by the rulers. The flame burns even today with Brahmasri vedamurthy Sri Madduri Venkata Subhramanya Somayajulu gaaru in the seventh generation and

Madduri Yagna Narayana Somayajulu garu in the eighth generation and Madduri Surya Narayana Somayajulu garu, Madduri Rajeswara Somayajulu garu and Madduri Venkateswara Yajulu garu in the present ninth generation, all of them performing yagnas at the same place.

Among the last three, Sri Madduri Venkateswara Yajulu garu has diligently performed almost all the possible rituals enjoined to us by The Vedas in his own humble way. It seems as if that the “Yagna Purusha” himself has chosen Sri Yajulu garu as his representative which is evident in the number of yagnas he has performed, an unprecedented number in the last 500 years. Even at the age of 95, he used to perform the “Nithyagnihotra” at his residence in which he performed 30 of his 47 yagnas each of which requires conscientious and scrupulous attention to every little detail. His son, Yagna Narayana Somayaji is now the incharge of his daily rituals. He even named his grand son after a kratuvu i.e.,Vajpey.

Yet, with the passage of the time, it seems such faith and practice will most probably decline in the future generations. The performance of yagnas and yaagaas in the near future seems unlikely. Hence, the determination of sri Yaajulu to keep this flame alive. The performance of yagnas at such a larger scale, at a place and collectively for so many generations is something too precious to lose with the passage of time. Whenever this problem was thought upon by sri Yaajulu gaaru the solution always flashed in his mind in the divine form of trimurthyaamaka Sri Dattatreya Swamy” . Hence he planned for constructing a temple in the pious land where he had performed a lion’s share of his karmas.

When such a thought was in passing, inadvertently, he was graced by the blessings of His Holiness,Avadhoota Datta Peethadhipathi, Pujya Sri Ganapathi Sacchidananda Swamiji Himself, who summoned him to his presence and encouraged him to carry on the pious work. Thereon the plans of Sri Yajulu garu took upon a concrete shape.

Whenever vedic rituals are performed The Vedas have ordained a specific number and shape for each of the constituents of the yagna. The Yagna is performed upon sacred altars built based on specific model or shape suitable to the yagna. Among such forms, the construction of altar in the form of Garuda (Garudachayana) is quite significant. Sastras rule that such an altar on which yagna has been performed is graced by the presence of relevant Yagna Devatas in their subtle forms and hence it is holy. Further such a place is forbidden for a grihasta to live, rather it is to be looked upon as a deity in itself and hence is to be worshipped.

Therefore the entire area of Jujjuru on which the descendents of Madduri have been performing yagnas is to be used to construct a temple for Sri Dattatreya, himself a form of yagna trimurthi, such an order was passed by H.H. Sri Swamiji. With the blessings of such Holy saints, the construction of temple of Yagna Dattatreya, to be found nowhere else in India, was done at a rapid pace in less than an year includig consecration of the deities on Magha Panchami day by H H Sri Swamiji himself. While the construction of devalayam for Sri Yagna Dattatreya, Sri Gnana Saraswathi and Sri Santana Venugopala was the prima forte, work is on to also start a veda patashala and full fledge Go-shala in the premises. The Temple is designed to grace the devotees, whoever performs sevas archanas etc.., with not only the due results but also with the meritof performing a yagna.

Hence, the onus falls on the kind devotees to help to complete the construction and the pratishta as well as to develop and to permanently maintain the complex here.

In addition to all this, since this Kshetram has been a Veda Kshetram for many a generation, it is also planned to construct a Veda Pathashala and a Sastra Pathashala and extend other social activities as well. Such activities are very much necessary to preserve the Vedic order of life for the future. Hence we request all the magnanimous devotees to kindly extend their helping hand to all these projects.
